Shillong (Meghalaya)

Once upon a time when Shillong was capital of seven North Eastern states, this was also known as Nefa provinces. Nefa was divided in seven states in the year 1972. Geographically, Meghalaya is divided in seven districts. Three types of scheduled tribes are found here. These are Khasi, Garo and Jayentia. There are east, west and south hills near Tura. The residents of Shillong speak their own local language and English. There is a great effect of Christian religion on their lives. Shillong is famous tourist place because of its residents, flowers and plants. There are good hotels, sporting facilities, fishing and walking on foot on the hills and skiing facilities are also available to tourist.
